For non-golfers there is also plenty to do with beautiful countryside, quaint local villages and numerous vineyards on the chateau’s doorstep. Lyon and Vichy are well within striking distance. What is widely regarded as one of the top 3 French restaurants is also in easy reach. Holding 3 Michelin stars for nearly half a century, Troisgros situated in nearby Roanne.
From 1494 – 1547 Chateau Les Bardants was owned by King Francis I. Although the main house was built around 1860, the rear and side entrances date from this period, built around 1530.
Please note that the château has an adjoining maison with four double bedrooms, who also use the swimming pool. This can also be booked along with the château to accommodate up to 20 guests.
